The San Diego Padres were founded in 1969 as part of a four team expansion that included the Royals, Expos, and the Pilots. The two latter teams would go on to become the Nationals and Brewers respectively.

They Padres have yet to win a World Series title and have won the National League pennant only twice (1984 and 1998). The Padres and Angels are the only two baseball teams to play in California who were actually founded in the state.
