The San Francisco Giants were founded in 1883 as the New York Gothams, would change their name to the Giants in 1886, and move to San Francisco in 1958.

The team has eight World Series titles - five from their years in New York and three during the San Francisco era - and have 23 National League Pennants. The San Francisco Giants have a long standing feud with the Los Angeles Dodgers which began when both teams played in New York and followed them to the west coast in 1958.

The San Francisco Giants have several players and coaches inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame including such greats as Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Gaylord Perry.
