Kinks and Beats Daily

When Scrapheap City was randomly selected for this week’s podcasts, I had no idea how much I’d learn about this catchy little country pastiche.

I became a fan sometime around the turn of the century when record stores were a thing of the past and CD stores were enjoying their short lived dominance. At that time, I had no idea that The Kinks had released a slow, bluesy version of Scrapheap City on an obscure B-side. And Ray is singing lead?

I hope that we’re all learning new things with this podcast and digging deeper into these amazing catalogs of music.

This week we also discussed a John Lennon solo song (How?), a Kinks hit (Ev’rybody’s Gonna Be Happy), a Beatles #1 (We Can Work it Out), and a late era Kinks gem (Repetition).

If you’d like a full list of the actual music discussed on this podcast, there is now an official Spotify playlist that you can follow!
