Tom Waits is a musician beyond classification. Equal parts blues, jazz, rock, and junkyard, his music has been pushing popular musical forms since the release of his first album, Closing Time, in 1973.
With a voice once described by critic Daniel Durchholz as "soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car" there is no mistaking Waits' music. The Grammy winner has been covered by some of the biggest acts in popular music including Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles and is a favorite of music critics.
